Freedom Writers
Directed by Richard LaGravenese

I found Freedom Writers to be a very good movie and makes you realize how it is to live in a place like their. A couple of the main characters would be Hilary Swank, April L. Hernandez, ad Patrick Dempsey. It was released on January 5th, 2007 and was directed by Richard LaGravenese.

Freedom Writers is about a new teacher named Erin, teaching some troubled teens that are mostly mixed up in gangs. She ends up helping all of them a lot and becoming a much respected person to them. In some ways you could say they were all like a family and Erin was like their mother.

I would say Freedom Writers and The Outsiders. They compare because they are both about the gangs and discrimination of where someone is from. There is much more conflicts between race in Freedom Writers however. The way the socs think they are better than the greasers because they have all the money in The Outsiders i find is about the same as that. Freedom Writers is more about race than money but the basic idea of discrimination and how each takes it is the same.

I found the acting really good in this movie. The only thing I noticed that was of bad quality in this movie was how they only showed that the kids had 2 classes all day and it was in the same room. I just didn’t think that was very well thought out and was rather careless. That made the story seem less realistic to me. Over all though I found the acting very well done and the actors were well picked although some were obviously older than the characters they were playing.

I think the message of Freedom Writers was never to give up on life when things are hard and also not to discriminate people because of their race or color.
